Not pictured: the walk we took about five minutes later.
But the noisy box was indeed of all-consuming interest throughout October, from continued edits of book 2 (pictured above) to work on the website, as well as a new map, promo graphics for every single website in existence, and--even more painful--ad banners of which Grok never approved. Here's a handy tip for the masochistic author: upload your ad banner to Grok and say, "Grok, pretend you are an expert in marketing fantasy books and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the attached banner image for desktop."
I lost two days to that madness.
The biggest news this month is, of course: Release Day! By the time you read this, Traitor Son will most likely be live on Amazon, available in ebook, paperback, and hardcover. I'll eventually have an even fancier edition available through IngramSpark, dustcover and all, and of course I'm already dreaming of a collector's edition with sprayed edges and shiny foil and the finest interior artwork.
A few minutes on Bookstagram will ruin you for normal books.
That's the thought I will close with for this month: thank you to the early readers, subscribers, and reviewers for moving me one step closer to the dream of a collector's edition with sprayed edges. It has been a roller coaster of a month and I expect November to be even more so, around the normal madness of the approaching holidays and the EXCEPTIONAL madness of the US election.
Here's hoping for safety, peace, and prosperity for us all, wherever you are and however you vote.
